Workhorse Kershaw ‘feels good’ to go for Game 2 of NLCS

Clayton Kershaw declared himself good to go Saturday for a Game 2 start against the Cubs in the National League Championship Series.

“I feel fine. I feel good. I’m excited,” the three-time NL Cy Young winner and one-time MVP said before the best-of-seven series started at Wrigley Field.

“It’s been a little bit since we got to do this, and Wrigley Field, it’s going to be pretty exciting. The fans, everywhere you go, people are talking about it, so it will be fun tomorrow, for sure.”

Kershaw, who closed Game 5 of the NLDS after pitching into the seventh inning on three days rest in Gam3 4, will oppose Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks on Sunday night. He will have had four days rest between starts and will treat the closer stint against the Washington Nationals Thursday as a normal bullpen session, although the in-game action was more intense.

“I’m not going in with any restrictions … no excuses at this point,” Kershaw said. “So we’re just going in trying to get a win.”
