Witness list for Martens murder trial released

The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office filed a list of potential witnesses it may call to testify while prosecuting any of the three suspects accused of murdering Victoria Martens.

Victoria’s mother, Michelle Martens; Fabian Gonzales; and Jessica Kelley now face first-degree murder charges in connection with the 10-year-old’s death.

Little Victoria was found dismembered, stabbed and burned in an apartment last month.

The witness list includes nearly 100 people. Almost 60 are cops, and the rest are medical personnel, members of the victim’s family or residents who lived near Michelle Martens at the Arroyo Villa Apartments, where Victoria’s body was found.

Some of those residents spoke to Action 7 News anonymously Friday night.

One woman said she heard arguing, shouting and loud banging noises from Martens’ apartment the night Victoria died.

The woman also said that she heard someone yelling “stop it” over and over again.

Another witness told Action 7 News a similar story, but added that she heard one of the suspects said, “I think she killed her,” while they were outside the apartment complex waiting on police.

Both women told Action 7 News that they didn’t think anything of the loud noises, and felt there was just a domestic dispute going on in the apartment.

Police have seized computers and cellphones from the three suspects. The witness list says that investigators took a computer that Gonzales sold to a pawn shop, and a phone that Michelle Martens took to a phone recycling machine.

The contents of those devices have not been revealed yet.
