Between 60,000 and 70,000 Americans tuned in for Sunday night’s second presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
KOAT wanted to find out if those same viewers are actually voting. Action 7 News reporter David Carl spoke to 10 people around Albuquerque and nine of them said they were definitely voting while one seemed unsure.
Bernalillo County said registration numbers are up. About 800 registration forms were filed Monday.
“We’ve been getting hundreds a day in, and we’ve already added well over 20,000 new voters to the books since the beginning of the year,” Bernalillo County Clerk Maggie Toulouse Oliver said.
Twitter shows Sunday night’s debate was the most tweeted ever, with more than 17 million debate-related tweets sent.
On Facebook, more than 55 million people viewed debate-related videos, which is nearly half the number of people that voted for president in 2012.
“It’s so easy to just do things from your phone. I do it. Everyone does,” Toulouse Oliver said.
Residents have until midnight on Tuesday night to register to vote.
