TREMONT, Maine — A Tremont man was arrested on several charges after he allegedly struck another man with his vehicle on Saturday, causing serious injuries, and then left the scene, according to a post on the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
Scott Merchant, 51, is charged with Class C aggravated leaving the scene of a personal injury crash and Class D operating under the influence. Merchant also is charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana.
The victim’s name was being withheld on Sunday night but he was described as a 29-year-old man. He was flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with serious injuries.
According to Lt. Chris Thornton and Deputy Jacob Day, the crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. on Route 22 near Kellytown Road.

Thornton and Day located the suspect about 45 minutes after the crash.
