Attendees participate in clinics and workshops for hands-on experiences with new approaches to music making and new strategies for teaching and learning. The one-day symposium is designed for pre-service and practicing teachers in all areas of music education. Sessions of the 2016 Symposium will explore materials, methods, and music from beyond the western European canon and which foster the inclusion and retention of PreK-12 music students through the practice of culturally responsive pedagogies.
