Sacked three times and intercepted three times, TCU quarterback Kenny Hill rallied with two fourth-quarter scoring drives to help the Horned Frogs pull out a 24-23 victory at Kansas on Saturday.
Hill threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jaelan Austin to cut the lead to 23-21 with 13:54 left in the fourth quarter, and Brandon Hatfield hit a 34-yard field goal with 1:21 left for the winning points.
Hill fumbled on a 3-yard carry before the field goal, but TCU (4-2, 2-1 Big 12) recovered to keep a chance at the winning points.
Kansas (1-4) missed three field goals in the fourth quarter. Matthew Wyman’s 54-yard try with six seconds left fell short.
Kansas turned TCU’s third turnover of the game to that point into a field goal for to trail 14-13 early in the third quarter and drove for another field goal for a 16-14 lead following LaQuvionte Gonzalez’s 67-yard catch and run to the 2.
The Jayhawks led 23-14 after quarterback Ryan Willis’ 21-yard scramble for a touchdown with 29 seconds left in the fourth quarter, capitalizing on the third interception against Hill.
Hill’s 18-yard touchdown run with 1:31 left in the second quarter gave TCU a 14-10 halftime lead.
