Singer Leah Tysse surprised fans when she joined San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest. The act of solidarity came during the Sacramento Kings’ first preseason game in a new arena Tuesday, Oct. 11.
While performing the “Star-Spangled Banner” before the game, the San Francisco Bay area singer took a knee in an attempt to bring awareness to police brutality. However, some Kings fans were disappointed.
According to CBS Sacramento, Tysse took to Facebook to explain her reasoning behind protesting the national anthem. She wrote that her protest was the most patriotic thing she could do.
