The Rangers will go with veteran Colby Lewis for ALDS Game 3 Sunday night in Toronto.
Lewis is 4-1 with a 2.38 ERA in nine postseasons games, including eight starts. He did not make a start in the 2015 ALDS.
2.38 Colby Lewis’ ERA in nine postseason games, including eight starts.
“We think he’s healthy, feels good,” Rangers manager Jeff Banister said. “Been stretched out enough. He’s experienced enough. Given the right-handed set of hitters that Toronto has he’s one of our best options.”
Lewis missed almost three months with a strain in his right latissimus dorsi muscle. He returned Sept. 11 and made four starts, his last on Oct. 1 being the best when he allowed four unearned runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings.
Lewis (6-5, 3.71 ERA) faces Jays’ right-hander Aaron Sanchez (15-2, 3.00) at Rogers Centre at 6:38 p.m. Sunday.
