Crews are working to restore service to approximately 23,000 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers Monday morning after widespread power outages overnight caused by an overnight storm, according to the agency.
Venice had the most outages, with 7,900 customers without electricity as of 8:30 a.m., a DWP news release stated. At least 2,000 customers in Green Meadows, San Pedro, Hollywood and East Hollywood were also left without service.
Other outages included the Palms, Van Nuys and Westchester areas.
It was not immediately known when service would be fully restored.
DWP cited dried palm fronds, tree branches and other debris making contact with power lines as some of the most frequent cause of outages during rain storms, the release stated.
Anyone who sees a downed or dangling power wire or pole is urged to exercise caution around it, and to immediately alert DWP by calling 1-800-342-5397.
