BIDDEFORD, Maine — Maine State Police say a man found dead in a Biddeford parking lot was not hit and killed on purpose, but the driver may still face charges.
Officers discovered the victim’s body Monday afternoon and said Tuesday they had found the driver who hit him.
Police investigators said they were convinced the man was not run over intentionally. Previously, police said a confrontation in a parking lot led to the man being hit by a truck, but they weren’t sure if that’s what killed him.
The state medical examiner’s office ruled the death of 30-year-old Matthew Perry was an accident.

Investigators say Perry was running alongside a pickup truck when he fell down and was run over by the truck, causing fatal injuries to his head and chest.
Police say surveillance tapes from the scene helped them make the determination that Perry wasn’t intentionally run over.
The driver may still face charges for leaving the scene of a deadly accident.
Late Monday night, a local police officer spotted the suspect’s truck on Green Street and pulled him over. The truck was impounded.
