Police believe the person who set a fatal fire in the Austin neighborhood over the weekend may have sustained burns in the process.
A refuse fire was reported about 1:25 a.m. Saturday in the 5500 bock of West Cortez, police said. A person, whose age and gender were still not known Monday, was found dead and burned beyond recognition after the fire was put out.
Investigators believe the person who set the fire — referred to as a male in the alert — may be seeking medical treatment for burns.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on the fire to call detectives at (312) 744-8261.
