Police: Man shot three people in downtown Fayetteville


Fayetteville police are looking for a suspect in the shooting of three men Monday night.

Police said it happened about 7:45 p.m. in the 300 block of Adam Street in downtown Fayetteville.

Three men standing in the area of Adam Street near Kennedy Street were shot by a man with a handgun, officials said. Two of the men were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The other victim is listed in critical condition.

Police say the shooting suspect is a man nicknamed “J-Rock.” He is described as a black man, 5-8 and approximately 175 pounds. The suspect was last seen wearing all dark clothing along with a camouflage jacket.

The names of the victims are currently being withheld until detectives can contact their immediate family.
