One man was killed and another was wounded in a shooting early Sunday in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood, police said.
At 3:58 a.m., the men were standing in the street in the 4800 block of South Bishop when someone in a vehicle fired shots, according to Chicago Police.
The 24-year-old was shot in the armpit and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately confirm the fatality early Sunday.
The 32-year-old was shot in the right leg and buttocks and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
Red tape marked off the crime scene on Bishop between West 48th and West 49th streets. A group of males could be seen standing outside, on the east side of Bishop.
“You guys shouldn’t be hanging around outside here,” an officer in the street said to the group of males. “We tried to warn you.”
