Harrisburg police have arrested and slapped a former felon with illegal gun possession and heroin trafficking charges.
As officers investigated a call involving a stolen firearm Tuesday, police said they determined Darrell Heizman stole the gun and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
When Heizman was arrested in the 300 block of Hummel Street Tuesday, police said they found a bag near him that contained 20 baggies of heroin valued at $200 and a stolen 40 caliber handgun.
Police also obtained a search warrant for Heizman’s home in the 300 block of Hummel Street, where investigators allegedly found a stolen 9 millimeter handgun with a 30-round magazine, 50 bags of heroin valued at $500 and drug packaging material.
Police were unable to find the original stolen gun.
Heizman was given $10,000 bail for a warrant issued on Sept. 6 for the following charges: Theft by Unlawful Taking, Intimidation of a Witness, Person not to Possess Firearm, and Carrying a Firearm without a License
He received $35,000 bail for the following charges filed Tuesday: Carrying a firearm without a license, two counts of person not to possess a firearm, two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, two counts of receiving stolen property, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
