GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — After bombings in New Jersey and New York and stabbings at Minnesota mall over the weekend, Republicans are saying that attackers have been emboldened by what they say are shortcomings in the Obama administration.

Monday, Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence told 24 Hour News 8 what Donald Trump’s administration would do to combat such attacks.

“I think it’s first being willing to recognize that seven and a half years of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton’s leadership has weakened America’s leadership place in the world and frankly embolden the enemies of this country,” Pence, the governor of Indiana, said. “This weekend’s terror attacks from Minnesota to New Jersey to New York are just the latest in a series of attacks brought to our shores or inspired here on our shores by radical Islamic terrorists and by the barbarous terrorist organization ISIS.”

“When Donald Trump becomes president of the United States, we are going to rebuild our military. We’re going to marshal the resources of the United States and our allies, including many moderate Arab countries, and we’re going to confront ISIS and we’re going to defeat them at their source,” Pence continued.

Pence went on to say that Trump would bring strong American leadership to the world stage, which he says has been lacking under the current administration.
