GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Our military service members have dedicated themselves to the defense and service of our nation. It should be our responsibility to support them, even after their lives of service end, because they’ve earned the right to be buried with military honors.
Unfortunately, not all communities are able to provide proper military funerals but Operation Honor Guard is here to help. This non-profit organization supports volunteers who stand guard and perform military rites at veteran’s funerals across West Michigan.
Tuesday, October 11th, Operation Honor Guard is having a fundraising campaign to support Honor Guard members serving in West Michigan. It takes over $800 to fully outfit each honor guard member. They have a goal to raise $30,000.
From 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. there will be two drop-off locations in West Michigan where money can be donated:
Graceland Memorial Park & Mausoleum
4341 Cascade Rd. SE
Grand Rapids, MI 49546
Restlawn Memorial Gardens
994 Paw Paw Drive
Holland, MI 49423
If you would like to support Local Honor Guards and Operation Honor Guard but can’t make it to the donation site you can’t don’t online.
Donations can also be made online here.
