Nothing working at the moment for TCU defense

Oklahoma is dictating everything about this football game since the first quarter ended.

At times, it’s been receiver Dede Westbrook. He burned safety Nick Orr on the second-quarter flea-flicker that went for 67 yards and gave OU its first lead of the game, up 28-21 at the time. Later in the second quarter, he got a step on safety Dezel Johnson for his second touchdown, a 40-yarder that made it 35-21.

If things continue in this manner, you can look back at this one and safely say that’s where the game was lost for No. 21 TCU.

But in the third quarter, OU has grabbed chunk after chunk on the ground with Joe Mixon, confounding a porous TCU defense that can’t stop the run or the pass at this point. Oklahoma has committed to the run, with 41 attempts, and has made it worth their while, gaining 244 yards, or, six yards per attempt.

When he’s needed to, Baker Mayfield has been handy pulling it down and running with the ball to extend drives as well.

Compare that to a paltry 54 yards on just 20 rushed for the Horned Frogs.

It will take a comeback of Alamo Bowl proportions to do anything about it now.
