No, Glenn Beck isn’t for Clinton. He’s just against Trump

Glenn Beck, conservative talk host and also a Tarrant County voter, is backing Tennessee write-in Darrell Castle for president, not Democrat Hillary Clinton.

But thousands of Americans are convinced he supports Clinton, after political blogs twisted the words of a Facebook comment where Beck called Republican Donald Trump “an immoral man … absent decency or dignity” and standing against him a “moral, ethical choice.”

The Trump-affiliated Breitbart blog, chaired by Trump campaign executive Stephen Bannon, blog posted a misleading illustration of Beck alongside a Clinton “I’m With Her” poster. Other blogs reposted it to claim Beck is siding with Clinton.

On his network Glenn Beck Radio Program Tuesday, Beck said anyone claiming he endorsed Clinton is “taking it out of context” and re-read his Facebook post:

“It is not acceptable to ask a moral, dignified man to cast his vote to help elect an immoral man who is absent decency or dignity.

“If the consequence of standing against Trump and for principles is indeed the election of Hillary Clinton, so be it. At least it is a moral, ethical choice.”

Beck again called Trump a “carnival barker” and worried that if he does lose Nov. 8., the resentful spirit of his campaign is “going to fester” and “10 to 20 percent of the people who support him will go deeper … A demon seed is being planted.”

Beck, 52, a Westlake resident and registered Tarrant County voter, made appearances for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and has called both Trump and Clinton “dangerous in different ways.”

In April, Beck rubbed his face in a bowl of crushed Cheetos to see whether he could make his face “look like Donald Trump.”

Castle, 68, is a Memphis lawyer. He is one of 13 candidates on a list of eligible write-ins for Texas voters.
