Nice today, then rain, cool-down on the way

After Tuesday’s record-setting warmth in the midstate, today will be a little cooler, as more fall-like temperatures are on the way, along with potentially rain later in the week.

An 108-year-old record was broken Tuesday as thermometers hit 83 degrees in Harrisburg at 2 p.m., said the National Weather Service at State College. The old record of 82 was set in 1908.

Potentially soaking rains will be possible in the northeast Thursday and Friday due to a storm developing across the Ohio valley, with cool temperatures coming in its wake.

Today will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. And temperatures continue dropping, with highs in the 50s this weekend.

Here is the week’s forecast:

  • Today: Mostly cloudy. High of 80.
