Two men were arrested after police said they seized more than 1,000 bags of heroin from them in Lancaster Thursday.
Eliezer Galarza, 60, and Eric Comp, 36, both of Lancaster, each were charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, delivery of heroin, criminal conspiracy to deliver heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
During a two-week investigation, officers bought heroin several times from residents of an apartment building in the 9 E. Lemon St.
Police said they saw Galarza driving a blue Ford Focus in the 500 block of First Street Thursday morning. Galarza approached a waiting white Mitsubishi in the same block and conducted a drug deal, police said.
Police said they approached Galarza and he tried to flee on foot. He was caught following a brief foot chase.
Galarza tossed 15 bags of heroin on the ground when he was caught, according to police. Officers found 560 bags of heroin in Galarza’s car and he was holding $164 in cash, police said.
A second team of officers served a search warrant in an apartment in the first block of Lemon Street at the same time.
Comp was arrested after investigators found 551 bags of heroin in the apartment and $336 in cash. He and Galarza were transported to the police station for booking.
Following arraignment, both were sent to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $2 million bail.
