A missing inmate from the Waiawa Correctional Facility has been returned to custody today, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
Police arrested 30-year-old Kurt Lopes and brought him to Oahu Community Correctional Center at 11:30 a.m. He will be transferred to the Halawa Correctional Facility.
Lopes was missing from a headcount around 9 p.m. Thursday.
Lopes is classified as a minimum custody and was serving time for Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle and burglary charges. He now faces an escape charge.
His next parole hearing was scheduled for May 2017.
Officials are investigated how Lopes was able to escape.
