After hours of searching, a 6-year-old Fort Worth girl who went missing overnight was found alive Saturday afternoon and one person of interest is in custody, police said.
Police located the girl, Brendaly Martinez, just before 2 p.m. in a wooded area near the family’s home in the 3500 block of Avenue K.
A citizen helped lead police to find Martinez after she heard screams coming from the wooded area and called 911.
Brendaly’s parents locked the house and went to bed with their daughter on the couch around 10 p.m. Friday. When her father woke up around 4 a.m., the front door was open and she was nowhere to be found.
Police do not know at this point if the girl left the home on her own will. There is no information released on the person of interest at this time, except that he had a beard and was in the presence of Martinez when they located her.
There was no visible injuries on the girl but she was taken to an area hospital to get checked out, police said.
