Midcoast Youth Hockey is pleased to announce that its Learn to Play Hockey program will be free again for all first time skaters this season. This is the second consecutive season LTP has been free for local girls and boys. They will skate 20 times this season in Brunswick at Bowdoin’s Watson Arena, usually on Sundays, under the supervision of MCYH’s coaching staff.
Hockey is an expensive sport, ice time is hard to come by and equipment can be costly and intimidating. We want to do what we can to make hockey accessible to young skaters and their families. So again this year, because of the generosity of our sponsors, we are able to offer the whole first year program for free to first time players.
Midcoast has been growing in other ways too. After many years without bantams we are once again offering a co-ed team for 13 and 14 year olds. It will compete in the Maine T4 “house” league.
MCYH has added a Director of Girls Programming to work with the local school programs to enhance practice opportunities for middle school girls at Mt. Ararat and Brunswick. Connecting our youngest girls with the experience and the talent in our school programs will help us build a girls team for next season.

In addition we have added a travel team for peewees. Both peewees and squirts will now have the opportunity to compete in Maine’s “house” league and in the more competitive travel league.
The Learn to Play season runs from November 6th to early March. Children age 4 and older (birth year 2012) are eligible.
Older players will take the ice Sunday October 9th. Registration, and more information, is available through our website www.midcoasthockey.org
