Man wanted for attempted murder arrested after hours-long standoff
SPOKANE, Wash. -
Spokane police took a man into custody after a standoff that lasted into the early morning hours Saturday.
It started around 8 p.m. Friday night when officers responded to a house in the 3900 block of north Washington. Officers developed information that 38-year-old Coby C Adams, wanted for attempted first degree murder, was in the house.
Talks with a woman inside the home were unproductive. Because of the nature of the warrant and Adams’ previous violent history, the SWAT Team, hostage negotiation team, explosives disposal unit, K9 unit and the US Marshall’s service were called to the home to try to bring it to a peaceful resolution.
After several hours of attempting to contact Adams inside the home a K9 was sent in to search the home. The K9 found Adams and he was taken into custody shortly afterward. Adams was booked into Spokane County Jail for the attempted first degree murder warrant.
SPD thanked the neighborhood for its patience in a press release. Neighbors were kept awake most of the night, but police say their cooperation played a big role in the successful end to the standoff.
