A Harrisburg man accused of stabbing a woman with scissors and a knife and hitting her in the head with a hammer was charged with attempted homicide.
Police said Larry Cathey, 60, is accused of attacking the woman in the first block of Balm Street the evening of Sept. 30.
The victim was found at 5:43 p.m. Oct. 1 sitting in the hallway next to the apartment where the attack occurred, weak from loss of blood and not able to walk due to her injuries, police said. Dried blood covered her T-shirt and was on her face, police said.
She accused Cathey of stabbing her with scissors and a kitchen knife, and hitting her in the head multiple times with a hammer, police said.
The victim was taken to Penn State Hershey for treatment.
Cathey was arrested without incident lying in bed in another apartment, police said, and a bloody hammer, knife, and pair of scissors was found in the kitchen.
He was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and unlawful restraint, and was placed in Dauphin County prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
