Man dies in Adams County crash

A 24-year-old man died early Tuesday when his Ford Focus struck a tree in Adams County, state police in Gettysburg said.

Erich M. Halter of Hanover suffered a fatal injury in the 2 a.m. crash, while a passenger, Ian L. Crotsley, 24, of New Oxford, was flown to York Hospital.

The accident occurred when Halter, who was driving north on Highland Avenue Road north of Clapsaddle Road in Mount Joy Township, Adams County, crossed into the oncoming lane. The car slide sideways off the road and struck a tree on the passenger side. The passenger was ejected through a side door. Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing seat belts, police said.
