CARY, NC (WTVD) —
The Cary Police Department has charged a Morrisville man with hitting a group of cyclists Monday evening and leaving the scene.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. on High House Road. Police said a group of four cyclists were riding towards the intersection with Old Apex Road when an SUV headed in the same direction ran over two of them.
Virginia Davis, 55, of Cary, and Laura “Lori” Cove, 48, of Raleigh were taken to WakeMed with serious injuries. The other two cyclists were not hurt.
Christopher Moore, 33, of Page Street, Morrisville, is charged with two counts of felony hit and run. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison.
Police are looking for more witnesses. Anyone with information should call the Town of Cary Police at (919) 469-4012 or file a report anonymously with Cary Crime Stoppers at (919) 460-4636.
