Man accused of drunkenly exposing himself at a local movie theater is arrested for a DUI crash the next day

Michael Howard Butler II had a rough weekend, which reportedly included two arrests after separate drunken incidents.

Butler was arrested for the first time this weekend when state police responded to a call for a man acting disorderly and urinating from his pickup truck. Troopers responded to the movie theater on the 800 block of East Market Street in Lykens Township to find an extremely intoxicated Butler operating his vehicle while his license was suspended.

Butler’s 9-year-old daughter, who was also in the car at the time of the arrest, told police she saw her father collapse because of his intoxication, prompting her to call for help. Prior to authorities arriving, Butler urinated in front of and showed his genitals to several people, including children, police said.

Butler also resisted arrest and spat inside of a police cruiser before he was booked and released on unsecured bail, police said

Butler is charged with misdemeanor counts of DUI, recklessly endangering another person, institutional vandalism, resisting arrest and open lewdness for the incident Sept. 17. He also faces numerous summary offenses involving the traffic stop and for disorderly conduct in the incident.

At around 5 p.m. Sept. 18, police responded to a single vehicle crash on the 700 block of Erdman Road in Lykens Township. Butler was again found operating his Dodge pickup truck while impaired, police said, adding that drug paraphernalia was also found inside of the vehicle.

The pickup truck rolled over during the crash, destroying a guardrail and a tree, police said. Butler was airlifted to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown at the time of this post.

State police said Butler will be charged with numerous criminal and traffic offenses for the crash Sept. 18. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Sept. 28 for the first incident at the movie theater. Online court records have not been posted for the crash.
