GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An 18-year-old man is facing charges in connection to a road rage incident and assault in Caledonia Township last month.
Christian William Hillman, of Ada, was arrested Tuesday after the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office issued a warrant for a charge of assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder.
Christian is being held at the Kent County Correctional Facility awaiting his arraignment.
The arrest comes nearly a week after a man was severely beaten in what witnesses described as a road rage incident on Sept. 29 in the 6100 block of Whitneyville Avenue.
When police arrived, they found 64-year-old William McFarlan of Caledonia, who had been severely beaten.
Witnesses told deputies up to three young men pulled a driver from his car and then assaulted him, critically injuring him. McFarlan was left lying by the side of the road. Witnesses said the suspects then fled the area on a dirt bike style motorcycle and a four-wheeler.
Police say McFarlan remains in the hospital with serious injuries.
It’s unclear if any other people are facing charges in the incident.
