The Maine Black Bears look for their for their fourth straight win against the Blue Hens this afternoon in a key contest in the CAA. A Maine victory would make them 1-1 in conference play and with a homecoming game with Albany and a road trip to Rhode Island next on the schedule, would put the Bears in position for a big mid-season win streak.
Maine’s defense will have to stop a powerful Delaware rushing attack led by Thomas Jefferson and Jalen Randolph, both of whom average better than six yards per carry. QB Joe Walker doesn’t throw much and has only completed 43% of his passes but is also a running threat with an average of 5.3 yards per carry.
The Black Bear offense needs to stick with the winning formula of running the football, leaning on Gold Helmet winner, freshman Josh Mack. Dan Collins has been inconsistent at best, with six interceptions the last two weeks, and is at his best when the Bears run and the play action pass is more effective.
Cloudy skies and mid-sixties are predicted for the 3:30 kickoff with a chance of showers throughout the game.
