The winner will get bragging rights and a specialty sandwich from a top foodie city.
LAPD Chief Charlie Beck and Chicago Police Department Superintendent Eddie Johnson are betting on the upcoming National League Championship series against the Dodgers and the Cubs, officials said Friday.
If the Dodgers win, Johnson will send Beck lunch from Al’s Chicago.
If the Cubs win, Beck will send Johnson lunch from Langer’s Delicatessen Restaurant, which is famous for it’s hot pastrami.
“At stake are more than just which team is better and will head to the World Series later this month. It’s about which city has the most beloved food,” a news release announcing the wager said.
Beck made similar bets with former New York Police Department Commissioner William J. Bratton last year when the Dodgers faced the New York Mets in the National League Division Series and the Kings battled the Rangers for the Stanley Cup.
