Lancaster woman sentenced in drug deal death

A Lancaster woman was recently sentenced to prison on charges she arranged a drug deal that ended in a man being shot and killed last October.

Christine L. Richardson, 38, was sentenced to time-served to 23 months, plus five years of probation in Lancaster County court. She was charged with three felonies and two misdemeanors in the shooting death of Nicholas Vassallo, 21, Oct. 5, 2015.

She has already served four months in prison, and will serve 19 months on parole, followed by probation.

Richardson pleaded no contest to charges she was involved in planning the drug deal and provided a ride for the victim and her son to the scene of the deal.

In court this week, Denise Eshleman, Vassallo’s mother, expressed forgiveness, but berated Richardson for leaving Vassallo to bleed and die on the street, said the Lancaster county district attorney’s office. Richardson apologized in court.

Robert Peters IV, accused of shooting Vassallo inside a car, pleaded guilty in May to third-degree murder and is serving 15 to 40 years in prison.

Richardson pleaded to: conspiracy to theft by deception, conspiracy to distribute, criminal use of a cellphone, corruption of minors, and endangering a child.
