Kennedale's Browning named Built Ford Tough Player of the Week

Baron Browning, the senior All-American linebacker from Kennedale, scored two defensive touchdowns in the third quarter, including one from 38 yards in a 47-0 rout over Springtown. For his performance, he was named Built Ford Tough Class 4A Player of the Week.

The 6-foot-4 five-star recruit also had two forced fumbles, one sack and four tackles as Kennedale (3-3, 1-0 in 5-4 D1) posted its first shutout during its district opener, snapping a two-game slide.

Browning, who plans on making his college commitment on Nov. 29, will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. He has 33 tackles on the season for the Wildcats.

Oklahoma, Alabama, Michigan, Texas, USC and Ohio State are among college offers as Browning is the nation’s ninth-rated overall recruit.

“Baron is so athletic and versatile,” said Kennedale coach Richard Barrett. “He could play defensive end, linebacker, defensive back or wide receiver. Football is in his DNA; his dad played at TCU and his brother at Stanford. He’s a team leader and certainly one of the top players in the state. But for us, he’s just a great teammate.”
