HSCC AIDS GOOD SHEPHERD
Several members of Hammond Street Congregational Church have committed themselves to assist the Good Shepherd Food Bank at its Distribution Center in Hampden four evenings in late October. They will be sorting and preparing loads of food products for food cupboards in northern, central and eastern Maine in preparation for the holiday season.
“Part of our mission as a church is to assist organizations in the community that are attempting to stamp out hunger,” Linda Murch, chair of the HSCC Outreach Committee, said as she and committee members recruited volunteers. “Since Bangor’s Ecumenical Food Cupboard is located at HSCC and is a recipient of the Good Shepherd’s supplies, it is only natural that we would want to give back to the community,” Murch added.
With a minimum of six volunteers each of four evenings, the goal is to assist the Good Shepherd Food Bank in its ongoing efforts to provide nutritious food [products to thousands of Maine families who would otherwise face hunger and possible loss of health and life
