This PPL outage map as of about 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 19, 2016 shows remaining outages centered on Muncy in Lycoming County. Extensive wind damage had cut off power for more than 3,000 in the immediate Muncy area at one point.
Severe storms and wind sent limbs and trees onto power lines and even broke utility poles, cutting off power to 3,000 customers in the Muncy area in Lycoming County on Sunday night.
PPL called on crews from the Harrisburg and Hazelton areas to help fix the damage, which still included many downed wires on Monday afternoon.
“We’re urging everyone to stay away from downed wires,” PPL spokeswoman Teri MacBride said.
As of early Monday afternoon, the number of customers without power had had fallen to less than 1,000.
MacBride said the National Weather Service was on the scene to determine what kind of winds struck on Sunday night.
