GOLDSBORO, NC (WTVD) —
The City of Goldsboro is asking some residents to voluntarily evacuate their homes because of the rising Neuse River.
Residents affected will be south and west of the following boundaries:
- South Slocumb Street to Olivia Lane
- Olivia Lane to John Street
- John Street to Elm Street
- Elm Street to George Street
- George Street to Ash Street
- Ash Street to Carolina Street
- Carolina Street to West Grantham Street
Residents are being asked to seek shelter with other family members outside of the affected area or at Carver Heights Elementary School located at 411 Bunche Dr. For those residents that cannot provide their own transportation, GWTA will pick up residents at locations determined by the police at the time of notification. Residents that do not evacuate prior to sunset could be on their own as flood waters rise and rescue by first responders becomes too dangerous. The shelter at Carver Heights Elementary School will open at 5:00 PM.
A curfew will be in effect again Sunday night beginning at 9 p.m. and continuing until 6 a.m. Monday.
