Getaway driver caught after fiery crash sentenced, authorities still seeking two males for armed robbery

A 24-year-old Willow Street man will spend four to 10 years in state prison for his role in an armed robbery last year.

Kervin Perales pleaded guilty to several charges in connection to crimes Nov. 16, 2015, across several Lancaster County jurisdictions. He was the getaway driver of an Audi that fled the scene of a robbery at Sonoco on the 200 block of North Decatur Street in Strasburg.

Police pursued Perales and two other robbers in the Audi through East Lampeter Township and West Lampeter Township prior to a crash on Millport Road near Rocky Springs Bowling Center. The vehicle caught fire after crashing and all three occupants fled on foot, officials said. Detective Christopher Jones of East Lampeter Township police caught Perales following a brief foot chase.

Perales treated at the Crozet-Chester Medical Center for burns and arrested several days later. Assistant District Attorney Travis Anderson said Perales has taken responsibility for his role in the crimes, according to a news release from the Lancaster County district attorney’s office.

Perales pleaded guilty to felony counts of conspiracy to commit robbery and fleeing police, as well as summary traffic offenses. Officials with the district attorney’s office noted that Perales did not go into the store or make threats to a store clerk.

The two other males in the car have not been arrested or charged. Strasburg police ask anyone with information about the males to contact the department at 717-687-7128.
