First National Bank presents $10,000 campaign donation to Special Children’s Friends

ELLSWORTH, Maine — Representatives from the First National Bank recently presented Special Children’s Friends of Ellsworth  with a $10,000 Capital Campaign donation.

The bank’s generous gift to Special Children’s Friends, a non-profit serving children and youth with developmental delays, will go directly toward the construction of an addition to the organization’s facility.

“Most of the children whom we serve have a diagnosis of Autism, and the community’s need for services is increasing,” said Linda Henderson, executive director, in a press relese. “We have literally run out of space. It is not uncommon to come upon physical therapy in the hallway, occupational therapy in the copier room, or a staff member searching for a location to meet with a parent. We are so pleased that First National Bank is investing in our facility expansion project.”

A new 42-foot by 42-foot addition will be added to Special Children’s Friends’ current building, and will contain two classrooms, a gross motor therapy room, private parent-teacher meeting spaces, and two handicapped accessible restrooms.

First National Bank President and CEO, Tony McKim said, “First National Bank is very pleased to contribute to the important work done by Special Children’s Friends. Their philosophy of helping, not only the child with special needs, but also that child’s entire family, helps the children they serve reach their full potential.”
