ELLSWORTH, Maine — Representatives from the First National Bank recently presented Special Children’s Friends of Ellsworth with a $10,000 Capital Campaign donation.
The bank’s generous gift to Special Children’s Friends, a non-profit serving children and youth with developmental delays, will go directly toward the construction of an addition to the organization’s facility.
“Most of the children whom we serve have a diagnosis of Autism, and the community’s need for services is increasing,” said Linda Henderson, executive director, in a press relese. “We have literally run out of space. It is not uncommon to come upon physical therapy in the hallway, occupational therapy in the copier room, or a staff member searching for a location to meet with a parent. We are so pleased that First National Bank is investing in our facility expansion project.”
A new 42-foot by 42-foot addition will be added to Special Children’s Friends’ current building, and will contain two classrooms, a gross motor therapy room, private parent-teacher meeting spaces, and two handicapped accessible restrooms.
