Ex-postal worker in South Williamsport placed on two-year's probation for theft

WILLIAM SPORT — The former lead sales and service person at the South Williamsport post office has been placed on two year’s probation and required to make restitution of $8,164.

Lori Regel-Childs, 52, of South Williamsport, was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. Middle District Judge Matthew W. Brann who in July had accepted her guilty plea to a charge of misappropriation of postal funds.

She admitted stealing $11,611 but had paid back $3,447 at the time of her plea.

She admitted between October 2014 and last December she misreported stamp sales by using “no sale” and “void” functions on the cash register system plus stealing money from her cash drawer and cash reserve.

The plea agreement required Regel-Childs to resign.   She was the only employee in that small office.
