Driver charged in hit/run crash that injured 5-year-old girl

A Lemoyne man is being charged with leaving the scene of a September hit/run accident that injured a five-year-old girl.

Bill L. Stine, 44, of the first block of Hummel Avenue, is being charged with accidents accidents involving death or personal injury, failure to give information and render aid, failure to immediately notify police and careless driving, Upper Allen Township police said Monday.

The girl was struck at 2:50 p.m. Sept. 21 as she was walking with other children and attempting to cross the 1100 block of Granada Lane, police said. A witness reported seeing the striking car traveling at a high rate of speed on Granada Lane, and police later identified Stine as the driver.

Police said Stine acknowledged being at the scene, but claimed that he did not know he hit a child.
