Cumberland County authorities said Tuesday that they are investigating the death of a county prison inmate.
Prison officials said David M. Atraga, 51, of Washington, D.C., was found unresponsive in his cell at 1:25 p.m. Saturday. Efforts by jail staff and emergency medical personnel to revive him failed.
Atraga had been in the prison since May for a parole violation, authorities said. Court records show he originally pleaded guilty to making terroristic threats and received a 6- to 18-month prison sentence for a May 2012 incident in Carlisle.
County officials said the coroner’s office and Middlesex Township police are investigating and an autopsy will be conducted.
