Cowboys No. 4 reminds Packers fans of Brett Favre on Brett Favre Day

Dak Prescott had never met Brett Favre before Sunday. The two shared a few brief words after the Packers honored Favre at halftime.

“He was just telling me congrats on my early success,” Prescott said. “Just to keep it up. He was proud of me really.”

Favre received his Hall of Fame ring and had his name added to the Lambeau Field façade alongside the team’s other Hall of Famers.

Another No. 4 – this one wearing the white jersey of the Dallas Cowboys – likely reminded Packers fans of their famous No. 4. As surreal as it seems, Prescott outplayed Aaron Rodgers on Brett Favre Day in Lambeau.

“I had dreams of playing in Lambeau Field,” Prescott said. “I guess you always want to win, but I can’t say I ever thought it would be on Brett Favre’s day.

“I saw a lot of 4 jerseys. I kind of, in my head, thought the Packers fans were for me. I tricked myself.”

Favre came out in support of Prescott last week, saying Tony Romo should wait until Prescott struggles before regaining his job.

“You have to look at the dynamics right now and they really are hitting on all cylinders,” Favre said on his SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday.

“So, this is hypothetically thinking, if you are Tony you say, ‘You know what, as much as I want to play, I don’t want to press the issue. I want to play, but I’m going to let it play out right now and it is probably better if Dak starts struggling and then they bring me in rather than they put me in and then all of a sudden we’re not hitting on all cylinders and everyone’s like, ‘Ah, they should have got rid of Tony, blah, blah.’ You know what I mean?

“I’m not saying that you tell [Jason] Garrett or Jerry Jones, ‘Look, I don’t want to play.’ I think, you want to play but, look, I don’t want to mess up the dynamics of the team. If we get to a point where we’re struggling then it is time for me to come in. Now, I know that’s a hard thing to do. … I just think you are better if you wait ‘til you are really needed. And I mean no disrespect whatsoever to Tony.”
