Cadillac Mountain Sports Speaker Series: Explore the Rangeley Lakes Region with Bob Romano

Tour the Rangeley Lakes Region of western Maine with author, writer, naturalist and fly fisher, Bob Romano, as he explores the lakes, rivers, ponds and streams that fill this part of Maine on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Jesup Memorial Library. Nicknamed “The Land of Fishing Legends,” the region is known for its native brook trout and wild landlocked salmon.

Romano will talk about fishing the Magalloway, Cupsuptic, Kennebago or Rapid Rivers along with the flora, fauna and history of this unspoiled part of Maine. His talk will also feature photos taken in the region highlighting the varied fishing spots and wildlife that can be spotted.

The tenth anniversary edition of Romano’s book of essays, “Shadows in the Stream,” has been used as a guide book of the region. He is also the author of the Rangeley Lakes series of novels: “North of Easie,” “West of Rangeley” and “Brook Trout Blues.” His essays and short stories have appeared in various anthologies, including “Christmas in the Wild,” “Fresh Fiction for Fresh Water Fishing,” and “Wildbranch: An Anthology of Nature, Environmental, and Place-based Writing.”
