Bystanders help arrest man wanted in west central Spokane shooting
SPOKANE, Wash. -
Spokane Police responded to a call of two suspicious people outside a Walmart in the 9200 block of N. Colton St. Saturday afternoon around 12:15 p.m. When an officer arrived, one of the people started running away.
Police say two unnamed citizens helped the officer catch the man who was running away. The suspect, initially identified by a false name, was later identified as 26-year-old Danny T. Williams, who was the suspect in an earlier shooting that happened in the 1500 block of W. Sharp Ave. on August 25.
Williams was booked into the Spokane County Jail for his warrant of Second degree assault, drive by shooting and felon in possession of a fire arm. The other man with Williams was also arrested on an unrelated felony warrant. The men who helped left before giving police their names.
In a release from the police department, the officer extended a special thank you to the citizens who helped. Police remind you that if you see suspicious activity around you, don’t be afraid to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
