Construction crews will be setting beams for a new bridge over Interstate 83, and that will cause delays and stoppages overnight later this week.
PennDOT says the beams being set could cause possible delays to motorists between midnight and 5 a.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The work is happening on Interstate 83 near Exit 50 — Route 22 and 51 — Interstate 81.
The Elmerton Avenue Bridge that crews are erecting is expected to be completed by early November. PennDOT said other construction work in the area is reconfiguring ramps and building portions of a new bridge that will replace the existing Route 22 bridge over I-83.
A third bridge over the interstate in Lower Paxton Township will also be rebuilt in advance of a widening project scheduled to begin in late 2018 and finish in 2021, PennDOT officials said.
