Bob Schieffer Blasts 'Disgraceful' Debate, Gets 'Both Sides' In Response

There was a disgrace to the United States of America last night, and Bob Schieffer knows what it was. In the post-debate analysis Schieffer mentions three things:

1. Bringing women allegedly in a “relationship” with the opponent’s spouse.
2. Threatening to put an opponent in jail.
3. Turning a contest for the highest office in the land into “WrestleMania.”

Only one of the candidates did these three things. Only one. But Gayle King has to ask Schieffer, “Both Sides?”

I mean really. What the hell? Which producer whispered that in your earpiece, Gayle? Because it turns out Trump wasn’t the only disgrace on television Sunday night. Your incredibly stupid questions were right up there. Hey, Bob Schieffer, what word would you tweet about tonight? No, really:

GAYLE KING: They are calling this the most tweeted debate of the past two debates. Two of them came from Tim Kaine and Mike Pence. Tim Kaine said “No question who won, Donald focused on Hillary, Hillary focused on the American people.” Mike Pence tweeted this: “Congrats to my running mate, @theRealDonaldTrump on a big debate win, proud to stand with you. #MAGA”

Bob Schieffer if you had to tweet, what would it be in one word to describe what we witnessed this evening?

BOB SCHIEFFER: More than one word. I would just say, “How have we come to this?”

KING: Good answer.

SCHIEFFER: This is supposed to be a campaign for the most powerful office in the land. Here we are marching in, women, into the hall, we’re supposed to have some relationship with one of the candidate’s spouses and what is that supposed to prove? Over and over “if I’m elected, I’m going to put her in jail.” I mean this is what they do in Banana Republics! This is the United States of America. People keep asking me have we– have I ever seen anything like this? And I keep saying no. And I just hope to God I don’t see another campaign like this one. America can do better than what we have seen here tonight. This was just disgraceful.

NORAH O’DONNELL: I think as we started off saying this is called “a Presidential debate” but there wasn’t much presidential about some of the discussion, Bob Schieffer.

SCHIEFFER: This is WrestleMania! This was not about presidential politics

KING: On both sides, Bob? On both sides?

SCHIEFFER: I think Donald Trump gets most of the blame here. But I didn’t see much to be proud of tonight. Although I felt she handled herself as well as she could.

Hey Mainstream Media!!! If you want this Donald Trump malarkey to stop, you have to stop making false equivalencies for Donald Trump. That is all.
