Bears inside linebacker Danny Trevathan will have thumb surgery Wednesday, coach John Fox said Tuesday at Halas Hall.
He will not miss the rest of the season, Fox said, nor will he go on Injured Reserve. That means the Bears expect him back within six weeks, the minimum amount of time an IR visit requires.
“We don’t think it’s that long-term,” Fox said.
The Bears signed Trevathan from the Super Bowl champion Broncos in the offseason, giving him a four-year, $24.5 million deal with $12 million guaranteed.
