The Grand’s Weekly CineGrand series– a series of the best of the recent films, from both the Hollywood studios and independents, all playing at 7:30 pm on Tuesdays at The Grand in Ellsworth- continues its new Autumn season on Tuesday October 25th with the original 1984 scary comedy classic “Ghostbusters.” The Grand brings back Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson starring as a quartet of Manhattan-based “paranormal investigators.” When their government grants run out, the former three go into business as the Ghostbusters, later hiring Hudson on. Armed with electronic paraphernalia, the team is spectacularly successful, ridding The Big Apple of dozens of ghoulies, ghosties and long-legged beasties. Tight-lipped bureaucrat William Atherton regards the group as a bunch of charlatans, but is forced to eat his words when New York is besieged by an army of unfriendly spirits, conjured up by a long-dead Babylonian demon and channeled through beautiful cellist Sigourney Weaver and nerdish Rick Moranis. With Annie Potts. (1984. USA. 1 hr, 45 min. Directed by Ivan Reitman. PG.) Tickets for this General Admission presentation are $7 for Adults, $6 for Seniors/Students and $5 for Grand Members.
