COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WOOD) — A resident of a Comstock Park apartment complex was surprised to find an alligator in their garage Saturday morning.
The Kent County Health Department told 24 Hour News 8 Animal Control was called around 2:30 p.m. Saturday to the York Creek Apartments in Comstock Park to remove a three- to four-foot alligator found in a resident’s garage.
Officials say the alligator is healthy and police are investigating to find the owner. It’s illegal for residents in Kent County to own an alligator.
Animal Control has spoken to officials at John Ball Zoo to find a home for the animal. The alligator is currently being held at the Kent County Animal Shelter.
Health department officials say this not the Kent County Animal Control’s first encounter with an alligator.
