A fire broke out Monday night at a high-rise, senior living facility in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, and some residents were injured, fire officials reported.
The fire was reported about 9:12 p.m. at a senior living facility located at 455 South Union Ave., the Los Angeles Fire Department reported. Five people were transported to local hospitals with burn injuries and smoke inhalation. Three victims were listed in critical condition, and two others suffered serious injuries.
Fire officials asked residents to shelter-in-place, while other were evacuated.
About 150 firefighters responded to the blaze and had it knocked down in about 42 minutes.
